Built in the 12th century, the Commanderie de Ballan is a “château hotel” located in the middle of an area of ​​several hectares 15 minutes from Tours. It is an ideal holiday resort for discovering the castles of the Loire.

In a magnificent green setting, you can stay in the castle where the comfortable rooms decorated in a traditional and luxurious style will remind you of those of the most emblematic castles in the region. Never disappoints!
A beautiful setting - very romantic. Lots of history and the grounds were stunning. Our cottage was very private and away from the main house and accommodation. Easy to park and unpack. We travelled with four dogs and the only suggestion would be to make the walled garden totally secure (but not a big problem). We loved having the pet rabbit wondering about and also the bantams at the bottom of the garden. The number of frogs in the pond was insane! The staff were very friendly and helpful when I was trying to make a booking work for our return journey.

Exceptional
Our room was perfect for a family of 4, plenty of space for everyone and a fantastic kitchen to cook meals. The outdoor space has it all, the gardens are immaculate, the wind in the trees and birds are all you hear.

Beautiful château stay just outside Tours
The room, grounds and facilities were amazing! A real highlight was sipping champagne in the outside hot tub as the sun went down. The beds were also incredibly comfy and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's a very relaxing location and a great base to explore the nearby city, wineries and châteaux. The pool was a little cold but we went early May, so I imagine it's very refreshing in the height of summer.
Apart from taxis there are no other frequent methods to get anywhere nearby if you didn't come by car, so would recommend driving there! However, Uber from Tours reaches the château, so we had no problems booking them whenever needed.
